How we use cookies and similar technologies on the HansePay website. Last updated: June 2026.

Overview

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your preferences and improve your experience. Some cookies are essential for the website to function; others help us understand how visitors use the site.

This policy explains which cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them.

Cookies We Use

Types of cookies.

Your Choices

Managing your cookies.

You can control and manage cookies in several ways:

  • Cookie settings: Change or withdraw your analytics consent at any time using the button below — this reopens the cookie banner.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their privacy or settings menu. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent the admin panel from functioning.
  • Opt-out of Google Fonts: You can disable external font loading by using a browser extension that blocks third-party requests.

For more information on managing cookies, visit allaboutcookies.org.

Analytics

Google Analytics.

We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google Ireland Ltd.) to understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga, _ga_5C26KG2J62) and processes usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type.

We only load Google Analytics after you give your consent via our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google. We enable IP anonymisation, and we do not use Google Analytics for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Google may process data outside the EU. For details, see Google's privacy policy. You can also install Google's opt-out browser add-on.

In addition, we collect basic, aggregated usage statistics on our own servers without third-party cookies.

Legal Basis

GDPR & consent.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Telecommunications-Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG), we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Essential cookies are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a functional website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Functional cookies are set with your implicit consent when you use features that require them (e.g. the preview link).
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are set only with your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given via our cookie banner. You can withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future, using "Manage cookie settings" above.

We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking purposes.
